Understanding Shilajit: A Natural Mineral Substance

What is Shilajit?

From an Old Legend:

“High in the mountains, stone giants weep. Their tears harden into a powerful balm—a remedy for countless illnesses. Few are lucky enough to find these giant’s tears, but those who do gain strength and health beyond compare.”

Shilajit is a natural substance found in the breathtaking high-altitude regions of the Altai or Himalayan mountains.

The Healing Power of Shilajit

Even in ancient times, people knew Shilajit was something special—a go-to remedy for all kinds of ailments. Scholars believed it could boost overall strength, support organ function, treat paralysis and seizures, and even enhance sexual vitality.

Old manuscripts mention Shilajit’s use for conditions like tuberculosis, asthma, kidney issues, inflammation, poisoning, stomach ulcers, migraines, and epilepsy. Traders and travelers carried it on long journeys, trusting it to keep them healthy along the way.

In 9th century BC, Aristotle recognized Shilajit’s healing properties. He recommended it for congenital deafness and nosebleeds, and even suggested rubbing a mix of Shilajit and honey on the tongue to help with stuttering. By 960 AD, Abubakr Rabi al-Buharoon praised its ability to work wonders when combined with honey. Around the same time, Muhammad Zakariya Razi advocated using it for paralysis and dizziness. In the 10th-11th centuries, Beruni advised always keeping Shilajit on hand in case of broken bones.

By the 12th century, Muhammad Tabib noted Shilajit’s ability to boost sexual function. There’s an old saying in Eastern medicine: “Only Shilajit can save you from death.” Stories even claim that Alexander the Great relied on “mountain tears” to heal himself after battles.

What makes Shilajit remarkable is that it’s not a stimulant—it’s a biological regulator. Its unique composition helps balance electrolytes, addressing both symptoms and the root causes of health issues.

Where Does Shilajit Come From?

Shilajit can be found in regions like the Caucasus, Central Asia, Siberia, Iran, Nepal, the Himalayas, and Arabia. Though these varieties look and feel similar, the difference lies in the concentration of key components. Without knowing the exact makeup, it can be hard to treat certain conditions effectively or fully trust the benefits of this mountain resin.

Research shows that Altai whole Shilajit stands out among them all. It’s the only Shilajit officially recognized as a supplement and is considered the best match for supporting overall health.
